The world’s foremost authority on college football viewership, helping tens of people to clickover from Bama blowouts to more quality games since 2018!

Tomorrow’s menu: Game-time Decision

Games for Saturday, September 21, 2019. All times CT because that’s where the SEC West is located.

11 am: LSU at Vanderbilt (SECN) because we focus on the Tigers here. For the non-LSU fans there are other early games of intrigue: Michigan at Wisconsin (Fox) and Tennessee at Florida (ESPN). California at Ole Miss (ESPNU) is of interest if only to imagine the scene when a fan from Berkeley visits a tailgate in The Grove and lectures Thurston Howell IV and wife BreighLynneAnne on the environmental impact of red Solo cups.

2:30 pm: Auburn at Texas A&M (CBS) The Gus Bus is rolling at 3-0! Auburn is the second of three Top 10 teams Texas A&M will face in just over a month. Think Jimbo misses that ACC schedule yet? Clickovers to Washington at BYU (ABC) and Kentucky at Mississippi State (SECN).

6 pm: Oregon at Stanford (ESPN) is a reasonable appetizer before…

6:30 pm: Oklahoma State at Texas (ABC) which is a nice salad course before…

7 pm: Notre Dame at Georgia (CBS) which has all the makings of a terrible blowout in either direction. Could be a classic Georgia-ing from the blackout game days of yore. Could be another SEC Day of Reckoning for the Golden Domers. Whichever team goes with one of their weird alternate uniforms is going to lose by 30.

Pac12 After Dark: Colorado at Arizona State (Pac-12), Chip Kelly at Mike Leach (ESPN) and a sneaky good option of Utah State at San Diego State (CBSSN).

The world’s foremost authority on college football viewership, helping tens of people to clickover from Bama blowouts to more quality games since 2018!

Today’s menu: Jim ’N Nick’s at the Atlanta United match

(All times CT because that’s where the SEC West is located.)

11 am: Chattanooga at Tennessee (SECN) Will the Vols continue to sink into the Tennessee River? Otherwise: Maryland at Temple (CBSSN) and NC State at West Virginia (FS1) appear to offer the best shot at competitive early games.

Noon: Air Force at Colorado (Pac-12) Being at an odd time on the Pac-12 network, this is like one of those Thursday NCAA Tournament games from days of yore. They were played in between the first and second batches of games for the day and only a small portion of the country got the broadcast.

2:30 pm: Alabama at South Carolina (CBS) For fifteen minutes until the blowout begins, then: Stanford at UCF (ESPN) or USC at BYU (ABC)

3 pm: Arizona State at Michigan State (Fox), Colorado State at Arkansas (SECCN) and Iowa at Iowa State (FS1) offer another chance at finding at least one compelling game for the afternoon if the 2:30 games are clunkers)

6 pm: Florida at Kentucky (ESPN) The Wildcats haven’t beaten the Gators in consecutive years since the mid 70s. It’d be a lot cooler if they did (sorry we have some hangover effect from the heaping helping of LSU vs. Wooderson last week).

6:30 pm: Northwestern State at LSU (SECCN) to see if Coach O remembers that he recruited other running backs last year.

Pac12 After Dark: Texas Tech at Arizona (ESPN)

Jeff Diecks

Hello there! I am Jeff Diecks and this is my own place for thoughts on project management, team building, sportsball and other things.

Why the strange name and URL?

I’d prefer to think that Geaux.Online has been on semi-hiatus since 1997, instead of introducing it as something new.

I created the original site on May 10, 1996 as an independent study project for three hours of class credit at Louisiana State University. G-E-A-U-X is LSU’s way of spelling G-O.

Originally established as Geaux.Online at www.geaux.com, the site was the first Internet-only publication to receive media credentials to LSU sports events. We sat next to dinosaurs in the press box and everything.

Check out the awesome graphics and navigation!

And behold the mighty source code of the original site:

With these roots in mind, I apologize in advance for the sportsball content that will find its way on here.

Geaux.Online taught me my first lessons in building web sites and running a business. The site also helped me land my first job out of college with Major League Soccer.

Then I made my first true business mistake: handing over the geaux.com domain name to others for nothing, because I was only focused on what was coming next.

I’ve made plenty of other mistakes and learned lots of things from smart people since then. I've managed projects for five different professional sports leagues, the highest-trafficked Drupal web site in the world and plenty of name-brand corporations and universities.

I hope to share some of the experiences I've gained along the way.

Thank you for stopping by this relaunch of an old class project. I promise to use the <blink> tag sparingly.

The world’s foremost authority on college football viewership, helping tens of people to clickover from Bama blowouts to more quality games since 2018!

Today’s menu: Smoked Bevo

(all times CT because that’s where the SEC West is located)

10 am: Ohio at Pitt (ACCN) - Because who watches Gameday much anymore, anyway?

11 am: Get fresh batteries for your remotes because it is clickover time: Cincy at Ohio State (ABC), Syracuse at Maryland (ESPN), Vandy at Purdue (BTN) and West Virginia at Mizzou (ESNP2) gives us lots of options for some intrigue somewhere.

1 pm: South Florida at Georgia Tech (ACCN) - This ACCN strategy at programming for unconventional start times is interesting.

2:30 pm: Texas A&M at Clemson (ABC) - Jimbo at Dabo but be ready for the inevitable clickover when the Clemson blowout begins to Nebraska at Colorado (Fox). Get thee back to the Big12 Nebraska and please take Missouri with you.

6 pm: BYU at Tennessee (ESPN) - 30 minutes to check in on how loud the booing is at Neyland before…

6:30 pm: Arkansas at Ole Miss (SECN) … just kidding.

LSU at Texas (ABC) - Will the Tigers look like Lowly Georgia or Mighty Maryland against the Horns?

Pac12 After Dark (if the results of the day don’t have us hating football): Cal at Washington (FS1), Minnesota at Fresno State (CBSSN) and Stanford at USC (ESPN)

The world’s foremost authority on college football viewership, helping tens of people to clickover from Bama blowouts to more quality games since 2018!

Today’s menu: Smoked Ribs, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo

(all times CT because that’s where the SEC West is located)

11 am: Boise St. at Florida St. (ESPN News) - Get off to a bad start and we can expect to see Florida State on ESPN News for a coaching search later this season as well. Indiana State at Kansas (FSN) - LES MILES RETURNS … and shows us 37 new combinations of toss dive plays he’s been drawing up during his hiatus. Ole Miss at Memphis (ABC) - The Tigers beat Colonel Reb last time he visited in 2015. Is this a make or break year for Mike Norvell keeping a seat on the coaching carousel?

2:30 pm: North Carolina vs. South Carolina (ESPN) - The return of Mack Brown! 3pm clickovers to Northwestern at Stanford (Fox) and Virginia Tech at Boston College (ACC).

6:30 pm:
Auburn vs. Oregon (ABC) - Bo Nix, the most Auburn-named QB ever, takes a turn driving the Gus Bus. Georgia at Vanderbilt (ESPN) - The crime here is this isn’t an 11:30 am JP Sports game with 3 Daves on the call and a fiesty Vanderbilt building first-half excitement before fading in the second half. Georgia Southern at LSU (SEC Network) - LSU unveils its new offense complete with forward passes to tight ends and everything.

Pac12 After Dark: Fresno State at USC (ESPN) - Enjoy your final home opener at USC, Clay Helton.

Sunday, 6:30pm: Houston at Oklahoma (ABC) - Dana Holgorsen’s hairline vs the Oklahoma defense in a battle of things that are good at retreating.

Another glorious college football season is upon us! We bring you the Week 0 edition of the world’s foremost authority on college football viewership, helping tens of people to clickover from Bama blowouts to more quality games since 2018!

Today’s menu: all-day smoked brisket.

(all times CT because that’s where the SEC West is located)

11 am: Villanova at Colgate (CBSSN) - We have to start somewhere, right?

2 pm: Samford vs Youngstown St in Montgomery (ESPN) - Pretty random choice for regular ESPN to start the year with but it’s football of the college variety on the teevee so let’s not be choosy here in Week 0.

6 pm: Jorts vs Turnover Chains in Orlando (ESPN, ACCN, SECN) - The Florida Man Derby for all the Four Loko. How many more players will transfer out of these respective programs before kickoff? How will the authorities cope with this much Florida Man cologne-fueled machismo in one stadium?

Pac12 After Dark (9:30 pm): Arizona at Hawaii (CBSSN) - The game of the day in our book. Does Sumlin’s Swag Copter have enough range to reach the islands? Hawaii posted their first winning season since 2010 last year and have a giant pass-happy quarterback with a hairstyle that is best described as dreadlock-mullet.
